End to end encryption WhatsApp backup

How to Enable and Disable End-to-End Encrypted Backup on WhatsApp to ensure that only you and the person you’re communicating with can read and listen to them, WhatsApp offers end-to-end encryption for all personal messages you send and receive, with end-to-end encryption backup you can add the same layer of protection to your backup on iCloud or Google Drive but be careful with that, if you lose your WhatsApp chats and forget your password or key you will not be able to restore your backup, WhatsApp cannot reset your password or restore the backup for you. Well after knowing this it is important to start teaching you first how to activate and then deactivate.

Steps to End to end encryption WhatsApp backup:

Activate

1. As a first step, open settings, Settings, Tap on chats.
2. We look for where it says backup.
3. And you press on the end-to-end encryption backup option.
4. In my case, for example, it is disabled and for the same reason here we can see that it says disabled. So we press on this option.
5. And here it tells us that end-to-end backup is disabled, if you enable this option your backup will be encrypted end-to-end before uploading it to Google Drive. No one, not even Google or WhatsApp, will be able to access it.
6. Your current Google Drive backup size is 78MB and includes 78MB of media files.
7. Well before activating it gives us a little information about the size and what can be done with this end-to-end encryption. So we press activate.
8. And here it says to protect your backup from end-to-end, create a password. You’ll need it to restore your backup. If you forget the password and lose your phone, WhatsApp won’t be able to help you recover your backup.
9. Well here it gives us two options, a password, a normal password and you can also use a 64-digit encryption key, in this example I’m going to show you how to create a password with this step.

Enter password

1. Here it says enter your password here, it must contain at least six characters and one letter.
2. Well after entering the password So we click on next. Write the password here.
3. Well we have to re-enter the same password, this is to confirm the password. Next.
4. And here it says you want to create an end-to-end backup, the encryption process will complete in the background, this may take a while. While it completes, you can use your phone and WhatsApp as usual.
5. And that’s it, well here we click on create and it says activating.
6. In my case it is already being encrypted and here a small message appears that says your backup is being encrypted end-to-end for the first time, this process may take a while when it is finished that message will disappear and your Google Drive backup will be encrypted end-to-end.

Deactivate

1. Well in my case for example it is still being encrypted, but since I don’t need it, I proceed to deactivate it, I don’t have to wait any longer.
2. And well, to deactivate it here we can see that it says end-to-end backup enabled and as if you noticed, it wasn’t like that, it was disabled, so well, to deactivate it you just have to enter this option again.
3. And then here it says change password or deactivate, I go to Deactivate and it asks me for the password, I enter my password, the password that I created when I activated this option. Next.
4. and here it says you want to disable end-to-end encryption of the backup, it will replace your end-to-end encrypted backup with a version that is not encrypted, so here I click Disable.
5. Your backup is no longer end-to-end encrypted. Ok done.
6. Nothing else, This is how it is Deactivated and here we can see again extreme extreme deactivated.
